11. Children & Youth Recreation

Creating Safe, Positive and Inclusive Opportunities for Children and Young People to Play, Participate, Learn and Connect

The Children & Youth Recreation Program of Youth Advancement Sontek Society (YASS) is designed to provide children and young people in the Sontek community with opportunities to participate in sports, games, physical activities, creative programs, cultural activities, group recreation, community events and other age-appropriate activities that support healthy development and positive community participation.

Children and young people benefit from having safe and constructive ways to spend their free time. However, some families may have limited access to organized recreational activities, suitable play opportunities, sports programs or community-based activities where children can interact positively with others.

Through this program, YASS aims to create accessible opportunities where children and youth can stay active, develop friendships, build confidence, learn teamwork, discover interests, develop practical and social skills and participate positively in community life.

Activities are organized according to the age, ability, interests and developmental needs of participants, with appropriate supervision and reasonable safety measures.

YASS recreational activities are not childcare, clinical therapy, professional sports training or a substitute for school education. Activities requiring specialized coaching, medical expertise, safeguarding responsibility or other professional qualifications should involve appropriately qualified or responsible persons.

Children & Youth Recreation Program

Activities requiring professional services, medical care, legal advice, technical work at heights, operation of heavy equipment or other specialized tasks must be completed only by qualified and authorized persons.

Play. Participate. Create. Grow.

Together we build a stronger, happier and more connected Sontek community.

1. Program Overview

Helping Young People Grow Through Recreation

Helping Young People Grow Through Recreation, Participation and Positive Experiences

Recreation is an important part of childhood and youth development. Playing sports, participating in games, joining creative activities, working in teams and taking part in community events can help young people develop physically, socially and personally.

A child may simply need opportunities to play with others. A teenager may want to participate in football or cricket. Another young person may enjoy drawing, cultural activities, indoor games or community events. Some young people may benefit from structured activities that encourage teamwork, responsibility and positive use of free time.

YASS therefore provides a community-based recreational platform where children and young people can participate according to their interests while developing positive relationships, confidence and community involvement.

Why This Program Is Needed
